Mat Fowler is entering his 5th season as the head coach of the Boys/Girls J-Hawk Bowling Program.   Mat spent ten season as an assistant under Coach Virg Cerveny.  Mat received Coach of the Year honors in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2021 with the J-Hawk program.   Mat has coached both boys and girls state teams to third place and runner-up finishes in 2014, 2015, 2019 & 2021.  He has also coached fourteen J-Hawk bowlers to state individual medalists achievements, including a four year streak of an Individual State Champion with the Jefferson squads.

 

Mat has been bowling for over 30 years.  He is a Team USA Silver Level Coach and owner of Pro Bowling Concepts.  He is a former ambassador for Columbia 300, current ambassador for Storm Products, and a former member of the Cedar Rapids Bowling Association.  He is a certified youth coach and holds a bowling clinic during youth league on Saturday mornings at May City.  Mat was inducted into the Cedar Rapids Bowling Hall of Fame in 2018 in recognition of his individual bowling achievements, his work in the bowling community, and his coaching and mentoring of bowling athletes.
